This Is The Place

This Is The Place is a new dance show telling the story of The Place: a collection of memories, anecdotes, dancers and performances that have together shaped The Place, as well as the stories of many for whom The Place has played an important role in their life and work.

This Is The Place is specially commissioned for The Place’s 40th anniversary, directed by internationally celebrated choreographer and Place alumna Aletta Collins. The work includes extracts, performed live from seminal pieces including:

* Robert Cohan's Forest
* Siobhan Davies' Sphinx
* Jane Dudley's Preludes
* Jeremy James' My Big Pants
* Tom Jobe's Rite Electrik
* Shobana Jeyasingh's Configurations
* Victoria Marks' Dancing to Music
* Frauke Requardt's Jammy Dodgers
* Wim Vandekeybus' What the body does not remember

The star-studded cast of performers includes Richard Alston, Valentina Formenti, Anca Frankenhaeuser, Fred Gehrig, Patrick Harding-Irmer, Rachel Krische, Martin Lawrance, Etta Murfitt, Namron, Eddie Nixon, Keir Patrick, Angela Towler, Kenneth Tharp and more, plus students from London Contemporary Dance School and young dancers from The Place.

From each ticket sold for This Is The Place, £5 will be reinvested in The Place’s Pioneering Fund, providing The Place with financial resources to take risks and break new ground, creating a fertile environment where the newest and most exciting things in dance are most likely to happen.

Tickets for This is The Place are £25 (concessions £20). The price includes a souvenir programme and drinks reception after the performance.
