dance from 1969 - now

A gem from our archives: a film for long-forgotten TV arts show Review captures a visit to The Place c1971 from the great American choreographer Anna Sokolow.

It gives a strong sense of what The Place was like in those early days, and features Bob Cohan, Patricia Hutchinson Mackenzie, Robin Howard, Clover Roope and more.

Towards the end there's a studio performance of extracts from Sokolow's "Scenes from the music of Charles Ives": an intense solo performed by Robert Powell, and a young Siobhan Davies with the rest of London Contemporary Dance Theatre.

so many friends and teachers in this excellent video. Ana's rehearsals, also very intense. Judyth Knight on the piano, and the company looking so young!
